An initial pre acquisition survey for the client led to instruction of the full design services for the storage facility and CAT B office fit out of a global courier company that specialised in transportation of pharmaceutical products. With an MEP value of £1m this project comprised of a mixture of office and warehouse space covering 5,200sqm (56,000sqft), based on the outskirts of the M25 near London’s Heathrow Airport.

Operating on a 24 hour, 365 days a year basis, system resilience was paramount, with pharmaceuticals requiring different storage set points the zoning of each system was also a critical design requirement.

To meet the specialist design requirements whilst delivering efficiencies in the energy consumption of the storage areas, a series of heat pump system installations was employed to maintain the internal design conditions whilst providing resilience with backup systems should there be a failure.
